The West Nassau Historical Society has selected Saturday, November 4, for their fundraising Hobos, Tractors, and Heroes Festival and Veterans Appreciation. The nonprofit's sixth autumn celebration is an all-day event held in and around the historic 1881 Callahan Train Depot and Town Pavilion located on the adjoining 1856 Florida Railroad bed. The arts/crafts and food vendors will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM. The tractor and vintage farm machines portion is a judged contest and is scheduled from 10 AM to 2 PM and will be followed by an awards ceremony on the depot's main stage. The kids’ play area starts at 9 AM with Joel Pace Piano and Music hosting the youth-oriented games such as a Hobo Scavenger Hunt and a hands-on instruments session on the back stage of the 142-year old station. The Historical Society will honor all of our veterans at 10:45 AM. Local live entertainment will perform on the main depot stage from 9 AM to 4 PM. Tours of the history museum, 1881 depot, turpentine artifact exhibit, nassau exhibit building and 1940s-era caboose will also be conducted. This is an primarily an outdoor event so please bring your blankets and lawn chairs.
